What Is Bad
- Editing
- Screenplay
- Camerawork
Bottom Line:Hunterrr offers a different variety of sex comedy with a not-so-technical setup
REVIEW - Story
'Hunterr' is a story that revolves around the
life of a sex addict, Mandar Ponkshe (Gulshan Devaiah). Start from his
childhood days, Mandar is attracted to women sexually and goes on to
have multiple relationships. Apart from having an affair with a swimmer,
Parul (Veera Saxena), Mandar also falls for a housewife Jyotsna (Sai
Tamhankar) and ends up having a relationship with her as well, just to
fulfill his sexually desirea. Time passes by and Mandar plans to settle
down and marry a girl in an arranged set up. This is when he meets
Trupti (Radhika Apte), who is a modern, outspoken kind of girl. In a
process of impressing Trupti and the fear of loosing her, Mandar decides
not to disclose his past life to Trupti and what happens next is what
the entire film is all about.
REVIEW - Star Performance
Performances are the life saver for the movie.
Gulshan Devaiah has proved his worth in his previous movies, and this
one is just another feature in his cap. The actor is perfect in his part
and the way in which he transitions his character across years is
amazing. From looking like a sexually charged teenager to a horny middle
aged man, Gulshan plays every scene with grace. Actress Sai Tamhankar
is a treat to watch. She absolutely suits her character and surely looks
hot. Radhika Apte is a brilliant actress. Her confidence, charm and
charisma takes the scene to a different level.
REVIEW - Techinical Team
There have been many instances in bollywood
where the makers have decided on cashing on the popular adult comedy
genre. However, instead of titalizing, most of these movies have proved
to irk the audiences instead. Now, Hunterrr doesn't really fall in that
category. It irks you as well as amuses you at the same time. Unlike
bollywood adult comedies where the viewers have to use their brains to
understand the double meaning words and sentences, Hunterrr gives you
the privilege of enjoying each dialogue without putting in much thought.
It comes out straight. Which will not quite be accepted by many. While
the first half deals only with the protogonist's sexually attraction and
tension, it will also manage to create a feeling of nostalgia amongst a
lot of boys remembering their childhood. The second half comes with an
addition of love. Even though, how Mandar falls in love with Trupti
isn't explained properly, their chemistry is something to watch out for.
It is cute and sweet. Direction by Harshvardhan is original and to the
point. He does not give the viewers the time to get bored and keeps the
amusement coming, time after time.
Technically, the movie is not at all sound. Lets start with the bad editing. The director takes us from year to year, back and forth to explain Mandar's character from his childhood and young self to his middle age, but there is less explaining and more confusion in the course. A particular scene does not even start to explain itself, that it is directed to some other year. Apart from this, even the camerawork does no wonders. The camera work is shaky and the screenplay is loose in a lot of places. Dialogues are fine, but does not have an impact to make people laugh their lungs out. A few smiles here and there, can only be promised.
Apart from the performances, the songs are another aspect that are a saviour for the film. With the involvement of singers like Bappi Lahiri to Altaf Raja, the music album of the movie has varied and superb melodies.

REVIEW - Analysis
On a whole, Hunterrr is a film of a guy who
considers sexual desire over emotional needs and will surely make the
guys remember either themselves or someone they know of from their
childhood. Director Harshavardhan keeps the plot original and this is
one reason that people will be able to connect with Mandar's character.
Even though the editing, flashbacks and camerawork is a big no no for
the movie, the star performances and the songs really make it a one time
watch.
