The Telangana stir is becoming rigorous in Telugu film industry. We have
seen agitators demanding for the division of the existing Film Chamber
of Commerce and its assets between both the Telugu States. And now the
issue is over the film theaters being in the custody of the few
influential people depriving small films proper release.
Pratani Ramakrisha Goud, President of Telangana Producers Guild warned
that Telangana agitators will very soon seize film theaters in Telangana
state if the influential four will not cancel their lease over the
theaters in the state. He defended his controversies saying that he is
leading the agitation for the greater good of Telangana film industry
but the influential persons are attacking him and his supporters when
they are fighting for justice.
On the other side, Telangana exhibitors Associations clarified that they
are ready to run films on percentage system. They asserted that they
are ready to give theaters on percentage basis like multiplexes
irrespective of small and big films. They also said that the current
theatre rent per month in the state is Rs 75000 and theater owners will
give them to any one who could bear will get the theatres.
The Exhibitors association said since big cinemas only could afford that
rent, they have given theaters to them as per agreement. They will not
budge to violence and stopping film screenings by using force. The
associations pleaded the agitators to stop unnecessary controversies and
solve the problems if any through Film Chamber.
