Ram Gopal Varma Ice Cream Review - Story
Ice Cream based on actual events happened on June 26th 2012 in Bangalore. Medicine student Renu (Tejaswi) move to a new apartment in Bangalore. When Vishal (Navdeep) joins her and begins explore the new things in the new place. Accidentally he displaces a graven image in the new place, that leads to a series unnatural sounds and extrasensory happenings. Soon Renu starts feeling wraiths around her, but Vishal never believes her and tells her its due to her mental disorder. Seeing the scenarios Vishal stays up for the night. Will Vishal believe the crazy things happening in the home? Did ghosts haunt Vishal? Whats so special about the idol? Will they survive the paranormal activity concludes the movie.
Ram Gopal Varma Ice Cream Review - Star Performance
The acting department has only one name you will remember after going through this so called horror thriller and that is Tejaswi Madivada. She does the usual stuff of a lady required to do in a horror film yell - scared and she does it well. For your confirmation there is no nude sequence in the film. Navdeep , as her boyfriend, tries hard to put up a good performance. Sarasvathi amma doesn't give you the feeling of a loathful character. Chanti and Sandeepti characters were not so gestated or written. Rest of the characters are fine in their routine kind of roles having nothing great in store for any particular character.
Ram Gopal Varma Ice Cream Review - Techinical Team
With extremely slow paced, Ice Cream never ever starts really. The movie hugely depends upon the Flow Sound & Flow Camera technologies. But in my opinion its high time we have to move ahead from only relying upon the sound design and camera work in a horror film. Along with these essential ingredients the story and screenplay also has to be looked upon as a major contributor in this genre. Sadly latest offerings from the RGV scores the least in this department and has only got the bottom and close up shots showcasing the oomph factor of Tejaswi Madivada. The writing, Character arc and worse of all - persistence is all the way beyond inclusion. The first half is used to establish that Tejaswi is scared to the last nerve by an unknown and she sense something eerie doing the rounds. The second half has these characters either getting beaten up or killed. Please tell Ramgopal Verma a skimpily undressed Tejaswi Madivada is not at all it takes to make a film a financial success.
Narration of the film is boring. Not only the Ice Cream song, even background score doesn't fit in the script. Cinematography is so so. Dialogues are very casual. Editing of the film is very poor. Editor could have easily cut short the scenes here. Production Values of the film are okay.
Ram Gopal Varma Ice Cream Review - Analysis
Unfettered by a story, subtext, or talent in any discernable way, Ice Cream stands out as year's worst horror film. This film is devoid of depiction, a back story, or concise storytelling, a horror fan's worst foe. Director Ram Gopal Verma once again disappoints in a big way and wastes our hard earned money and time. The low cost product may rope in some returns but Ram Gopal Verma desperately needs to reinvent himself for the sake of his fans.
