Raja Rani Review

  • Cast: Aarya, Nayanthara, Jai, Nazriya Nazim
  • Director: Atlee Kumar
  • Music Director: GV Prakash Kumar
  • Producer: S. Shanmugam, A. R. Murugadoss

Film opens with John (Arya) and Regina (Nayanthara) getting married in a church, forcefully by their parents. While saying the wedding wows, Ragina utters her ex-lovers name Surya from that moment on the newly wed couple have difficulty to adjust with one and behave like strangers. John comes home drunk everyday and creates trouble in the home and neighbors get irritated with both of them. One day Ragina suffers from fits and is hospitalized, John helps her and then comes to know about her love story. John feels sad when he comes to know about how much Ragina loved Surya (Jai) and how Surya left to US and that he has committed suicide there. Ragina also comes to know about the tragic love story of John(Arya) and how Keerthana (Nazriya Nazim) died in an accident soon after marriage.

Both John and Regina start loving each other but they do not express. Story gets complicated when both of them misunderstand each other and towards the climax when Regina knows that Surya is alive.

Though it is a debut film for the Director, Atlee Kumar, he has picturised every scene exceptionally well. Director has paid attention to minute details; even physically the Actors look different in the flashback and the present story. Film looks very grand with good production values.

The minus points of the film are the length of the second half, lag at couple of scenes. We do not get completely convinced by the reason for Jai leaving Regina and not marrying her.

Excellent performance by all the actors Arya, Jai, Nayanthara and Nazriya Nazim. Though brief Sathyaraj perfectly suited the character as a loving and friendly father, all the scenes establishing relationship between father and daughter worked out very well.

Cinematography by George C Williams is extraordinary, it is a visual delight for the audience, all the songs standout.

G.V Prakash Kumar’s music and background scores enhance the story and a huge plus for the film.

Anthony’s Editing, perfectly suited the screenplay and is remarkable.

Refreshing entertainer with fine emotional scenes, don’t miss the film.
